We discovered that in 2019, Nissan had recalled all e-NV200's because of a problem with the gear shifter. As all the e-NV200's in New Zealand are imports, none of the New Zealand owners were contacted.
The problem shows up when the eVan can't be shifted out of Park or can't move into Park. Basically the eye of the gear shift cable can be misaligned in production and put an overdue stress on the original bush and the bush fails.
Fortunately there is a company in Christchurch, EV's Enhanced, https://evsenhanced.com/ which is on top of this.
They sell a small replacement nylon bush for the shift mechanism and have a good video which shows how to install this with the minimum of tools. As part of the installation, you straighten the eye of the shift cable so that it aligns correctly and thereafter the bush will not be under undue stress.
We ordered a part and Jim took the gear shift to pieces. Our original part looked in very good condition and was well greased. Jim found the original bush was so well seated that he could not remove it so put everything back. The new bush is in the side pocket for the time if or when we have a failure.
